Poet, prose writer, translator, activist. His works have been translated in more than 20 languages. He has a number of Ukrainian and Ukrainian overseas honors, including the Joseph Conrad-Kozhenevsky Prize, the BBC Book of the Year, and the Book of the Year, Brücke Berlin [de], “Angelus”, “Ukrainian Book of the Year”, “LitAccent of the Year”, Vasil Stus Prize, the best book of 24th Publishers’ Forum in the category “Contemporary Ukrainian Prose”, the William Tell Prize 2019 and others. He translates from German, Polish, Belarusian and Russian.
Participant in multimedia art projects ” Zhadan i Sobaky” (“Zhadan and the Dogs”), “Mannerheim Line”, “Rozdilovi” and others.
Member of the Ukrainian PEN. In 2017 he founded the Serhiy Zhadan Charitable Foundation.
